This bill is insane. Trying to force us to accept criminals and dinadus as the good boys their mama's say they are. Our government's are out of control and corrupt to the core. Jesus come soon for your Church.
It repeals the other bill but also literally "creates the crime of unlawfully carrying a handgun". Didn't realize the constitution allowed the state to create laws not just infringing, but outright prohibiting the right to keep and bear arms. Oh that's right it doesn't.
Problem is when Dominion turns the state Blue and they decide that anyone who voted for Trump is a white supremacist terrorist because he incites violence, and they decide to red flag anyone listed as a Trump voter. Then they can declare any Trump voter an unlawful handgun carrier.
That's the problem with laws like these, take the patriot act as an example. They can and eventually will be abused.
This sucks because I paid for a lifetime permit and waited all that damn time for them to process my info to get it so I could carry my weapon. I mean, I'm not unhappy this law may pass but now I'm out a hundred bucks
That permit is still important in other states Fren. Just because we'll be able to carry in Indiana doesn't mean I can walk around in another state with a gun because I'm a Hoosier.
As a former Indiana resident (now back in my native Texas), I'm glad for my former home. It's where I got my first CHL (luckily only got 4 years). Now if only Texas would get constitutional carry as well...
Bill looks like shit if you read it. It's never as simple as "repealing this other bill" it's adding in a whole bunch of other shit that gives more invasive power to the state and violates even more rights in return. The last bill wasn't constitutional at all, but it doesn't mean this one is.
(1) Repeals the law that requires a person to obtain a license to carry a handgun in Indiana;
(2) Specifies that certain persons who are not otherwise prohibited from carrying or possessing a handgun are not required to obtain or possess a license or permit from the state to carry a handgun in Indiana;
(3) Prohibits certain individuals from knowingly or intentionally carrying a handgun;
(4) Creates the crime of "unlawful carrying of a handgun";
(4) Creates the crime of "unlawful carrying of a handgun";
(4) Creates the crime of "unlawful carrying of a handgun";
(5) Provides that a prohibited person who knowingly or intentionally carries a handgun commits a Class A misdemeanor;
(6) Specifies that the unlawful carrying of a handgun is a Level 5 felony if a person: (A) is less than 23 years of age; and (B) has an adjudication as a delinquent child for an act described by IC 35-47-4-5 (unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon);
None of this shit is constitutional, fuck all of these retards who don't understand the US Constitution. Unlawful carrying of a handgun? Unlawful? Show me the law that allows for the prohibition of keeping and bearing arms, and I'll show you an unconstitutional act of tyranny.
Notice how none of this addresses concealed carry permits.
Also this: Effective July 1, 2021: (1) Provides that the following must develop a
process that allows law enforcement officers the ability to quickly
access information about whether a person is a prohibited person who
may not knowingly or intentionally carry a handgun

Hopefully so!

Got my Indiana CHL but moved back to Texas. That voids my IN license right?
Excellent news. I am moving from South Dakota to Indiana in 2 weeks.
I simply carry concealed Nd exercise my rights. I live in a non constitutional Carey state.
Me to fren..ticked off I paid 174.00 total..fees here fees there..unreal.
Well my lifetime Indiana carry permit , that I paid dearly for is now defunct? useless?
No, it allows you to carry in most states that require a permit. but then again, so does the constitution.
I started the application process last year and still haven't received my lifetime.
