I mean the Romans had the Colosseum and they pitted criminals up against each other, animals, and whatnot I don't really see why they stopped (I disagree with violence like that but I am not the government so I don't make the rules) we didn't stop being barbaric as a human race we still go to war, we have war in our own neighborhoods (Chicago) we kill unborn children who are defenseless because keeping your legs shut or your dick in your pants is too difficult, watch and consume violence on tv.
So why did they stop? Also I wonder what the funds of the Colosseum went to.
A lot of the participants in the arena weren't criminals or even prisoners; many were contracted athletes. Death battles were, if I recall correctly, fairly uncommon as it's more expensive than just beating the crap out of each other and being able to walk off after.
A lot of things occurred in the arena, including public executions (often of Christians). The money that the arenas made was astonishing, relatively dwarfing that of modern athletics. Much of that money went to athletes, but there was a whole industry around it, including, I believe, gambling.
Some really crazy events happened there; they even had a mechanism of converting the center for use in naval battles and stuff.
They stopped because after ‘the fall of Rome,’ Rome was gradually reduced by population and importance until it became a nothing city and civilization moved on. Eventually you couldn’t hold games of even 30,000 people when that was more than the population of Rome was reduced to.
I say the ol’ boy could have thrown himself into a shark tank for proper recycling.
"But thats inhumane!"

Probably the fucking rothchilds lmao
You think they have been around since that time? I know very little about the family name or history on it.
Just as an added note;

The center for naval battles! I have never heard that before. I am most familiar with the amount of saints that have died in there though.

Bring back stoning people... slow and painful
Some countries still do that, Iraq and Iran I believe do as well as Saudi Arabia, pretty much all the Islamic countries do it.
That's "green", I mean red, but, well you know what I mean...
