This is why I've always told my kids, let them take the first swing, and you pay it back 100 fold. Do not take it on the chin. If they start it, you finish it with them in the hospital. I will love you till the day you die, and I will defend you to the school, and anyone else that tries to shame you for defending yourself.
My wife hates when I tell me girls that, but you know what? My kids don't get bullied, and haven't had to hurt anyone (yet). They know I have their back and they have a silent confidence that feeds them. I've seen/heard from their teachers (we are very active with our kid's education) and the teachers say they are the most respectful kids in class, they study hard, and they are good influences on the other kids.
If your kids have confidence and know you believe in them, and support them, they have inner confidence, can handle more, can take what life throws at them, shrug off the simple stuff, and come to you with the big stuff.
Teach your kids how to survive, not how to hide. Don't teach them to fear, teach them to be brave and love God. There is plenty of fear out there already. They don't need more.
True story:
Woman with kids in public school told me recently they were being bullied there just because they were "different" (From out of town).
Mom says she complained to school principal, who told her point blank:
"There's no bullying at (deleted) school."
Like the stolen election, just keep repeating the Big Lie long enough, and those still asleep will continue to believe.
Until, the day finally comes.

Teach them the truth, they can take it.
Telling someone there is no bullying, when there clearly is, is in itself a form of bullying imo.
It’s how they roll.
