Sorry if I was rude. I've been dealing with a lot, but i tried to answer the question in my own way. You are right, I should do better to keep more calm.
Too many people can’t handle the plain truth.
(Not directed at the person you replied to. I’m blunt and direct and sometimes people just find it “rude.”)
I didn't find it rude, you were encouraging the OP to develop their research skills, and develop their level of confidence/competence in their positions.
I just meant to point out that it's easy to lose sight of our former levels of ability in different skills (e.g., research skills, organization skills), if we've already well developed them. Also pointed out, in a slightly different manner than you, that these are things we can each learn to be better at.
Thanks for clarifying! I totally agree, we all have room to grow. I take the original statement from OP as someone who believes but is new so asks for help. But to go convince others, you must be certain in your position instead of relying on trust of what others say. Before convincing others, you must be relatively certain yourself of what you're convincing them of.
That father son relationship can be an obstacle. I've gotten through mine (lifelong dems) to see that the dems went off the wagon and they really listen to what I have to say. Can't get through to them on Vaccines though because the MSM still reverts their position on that.
Trump telling everyone to get it reaffirmed it for them.
Thought about that afterwards, the father-son relationship could make it harder.
In this case, you might want to start with things that aren't so connected to Trump, to avoid the TDS. Point out how the Dems, at large, are destroying American society. What their agenda will lead to, and how they are going about it.

You weren’t rude. You were honest without bias.

I had similar feelings, but you worded it well.
Thanks for clarifying, friend!
