I learned something interesting a while back about the mark of the beast, but I can't find the source anymore. Well its something like this... the mark of the beast is 666, which is χξϚ in greek. χ is the shape of a chromosome, which is comprised of chromatin which is basically coils of DNA; ξ looks like chromatin. Ϛ is stigma, which means a mark. The mark of the beast χξϚ then is to mark or puncture Ϛ the chromosome and chromatin χξ. John might have literally seen a chromosome receiving a mark. The mark of the beast could be the corruption of man's DNA, destroying the image of God in which we are made. Its a very interesting theory.
Sorry but "Nero Caesar" in Hebrew letters which are also numbers, would be 666.
This is something every Jew of that time would know but people that didn't understand Hebrew wouldn't know so it was a low-key way of saying or writing about Nero without having to work about getting burned at the stake or something like that.
The beast was Nero who claimed to be a God and demanded worship. His image was on the money and you couldn't buy or sell without using it. All that part is done.

Ya, I've heard that one, too. It is interesting, but idk... -- The problem with preterism
I'm 100% post-millennial. It's the only eschatology that's consistent with the concept that God wins.
"sit at my right hand while I make all your enemies your footstool "is God's favorite Bible verse that appears more times in the Bible than any other.
