Sounds needlessly complicated. Millions of people needing to make appointments at a state office in order to do a swearing in ceremony? And what about the hundreds of thousands of US expats overseas who can't go the USA or a state capital. Some of whom have never even lived in a US state, and yet are still Americans by virtue of birth to US citizens. Many of whom will be left stateless if America tries to revoke their citizenship because they don't fit the new model. They still need to access US citizen services from a US federal embassy. Individual states do not have overseas embassies or consulates and are not authorized to establish them. Where do these people even go to in order to declare their allegiance, and to whom?

I'm all for tossing the current system, but we need something less complex than this in order to transition. Hopefully the real people actually considering this have put more thought into it. The model espoused in the links above would be a disaster of epic proportions.
