Well. That is a solid argument on its own. But I do not expect everyone to be a devout follower of God. I also generally believe that it is good to understand at the very least that God tell us how to behave because he knows much better than we know what is good for us.
Now claiming to understand God is an outlandish claim on its own. So I am sure you can imagine my dilemma when I am trying to explain this.
In the end I can’t help but to feel I am so very small and insignificant when I speak of the Almighty
Makes sense. There's a big difference between "Deus ex machina" and "Deus ex Deus." Didn't mean to split hairs, it's just that my default option is that people take God seriously. When I do that, even in places where we're "supposed" to not take God seriously like work or school, I find serious thinkers and believers in unexpected places. But you're right: lots of people don't give a hoot and dismiss any argument involving God because of the shallowness of Deus ex machine.
"Because God said so"
is an argument that is exactly as deep, or as shallow, as a person's devotion.
