The pipeline gave our country sovereignty within the global political structure. How can "someone" cancel the pipeline in their own country under the guise of climate change, while simultaneously supporting the building of a pipeline in another country? The Siberian pipeline between Russia and China. How can this not be considered treason for our supposed president to weaken our economy while simultaneously strengthening that of two "rival" countries?
I'll be completely honest, I know very little of the details of these matters, but from my perspective, this makes no sense unless the motives are political, self-serving and anti-American.
Everything they are doing is treasonous per my perspective. Hate America in the open
I'll make this simple.
Every drop of oil, 100% of extraction capacity, that can be extracted from the Alberta Oil Sands already has a way of flowing to the Texas Gulf Coast refineries. Most of that is through existing pipelines, but some is crude by rail.
If the Keystone Pipeline were miracled into being tomorrow... there isn't anything for it to do. Oil flowing through that pipeline would mean that the same oil isn't flowing through another pipeline (which it currently is).
The argument about the Keystone Pipeline is more an argument about which pipelines and delivery methods will be utilized (and which companies own those pipelines). It also matters which states the oil flows through... and how much those states collect in taxes every year from that flow. Follow the money.
Wow. New perspective for me. Will be thinking about this. Tx
Look at Illinois. Look at Flanagan Pipeline (36") and Eastern Gulf Pipeline (30"), both of which originate in Flanagan, Illinois... and flow to the Gulf Coast refineries.
Where do THEY get the oil? From a 42" Canadian pipeline that crosses the border just North of Flanagan, Illinois.
Now look at the fact that Illinois has the highest inventory taxes in the nation for oil flowing through their state... not even close. Illinois taxes oil pipeline flow at a rate 400% higher than any other state. They are over $4.25 per barrel.
Now imagine that up to 1.2 MILLION barrels per day are flowing through Illinois through those lines. That's close to $1.8 Billion in taxes every year that Illinois collects... for basically allowing that oil to flow through their state. Now... imagine that someone finished the Keystone Pipeline... and that the flow of oil through Illinois stops. :>)
How much of this seems to be an "environmental" problem?
I don't buy the climate change excuse, but that's the explanation they're using. So looking forward to all these criminals being sidelined.
Leave it to Illinois to have the highest taxes on something. I hate this state so much, and I cannot wait to get out of here.
Not on " something ". On a lot of everything. Communist gonna commie.

FYI, I have a strong belief that new clean energy tech will soon be released. However, until that time, I'm all for supporting anything that is not harmful while creating jobs to strengthen our economy. Question: What is your take on all the lost jobs and what I've been hearing that we now have to buy oil because we're no longer producing enough for ourselves and to sell? And if we have enough (the same as before), why is the price of oil going up?
