There was a story that always stuck with me, long before I knew about all this.

Young man was kidnapped in Mexico, tortured, and his blood harvested then sold to the wealthiest people in the country as magic spells. At the time my thought was; "Holy crap, Mexicans are crazy." But now I know what was really going on. This story is one of the reasons I immediately knew andrenochrome is real.
