People are freaking about about HR 1 banning voter ID laws in some states. My legitimate question is can’t the states ignore HR 1 just like some do the scheduling of marijuana on the federal level? Maybe we can use this as a way to fight for state rights over federal government and weaken federal power?

State Legislatures determine their own voting laws.
Except the general mandates from Congress. Like the HAVA.
If we had a functioning judiciary their job would be to strike down unconstitutional laws enacted by rogue legislators.
The States will have to unify to reject these indefensible acts of Congress.
I 100% agree. Do you think the red-Sates will stand up to HR 1 with non compliance?
Democrats don't win if elections are fair, if all the Red states move to voter ID and block chain voting, Democrats wont win in those states, we already hold the majority of legislatures so its possible.
I personally am tired of every politician with an R by their name rolling over and taking it up the ass.
Plenty of blue states ignore federal laws, it's time red states do the same. Stop taking the high road every time. If you want to defeat the leftists, that means getting dirty and fighting their stupid game. They have been cheating at the polls for a long time.....why haven't any conservatives cheated? Honor? Integrity? That hasn't exactly been working out at all.
Fucking stand up!
If we can't enforce fair elections, and we can't find an honest judge. Then we have to ignore unamerican dictates from the Coup and when the Coup is forced to confront us militarily, then we see if our military defends us. If they don't you know fer sure you better hold onto your weapons.
This bill will be challenged if it passes (not that I expect scrotus to side with the states). The constitution gives power to the States to decide how they will vote.
This is partly my concern. I’m not sure SCOTUS will rule in favor of the states anymore. If they make a rule that the states must follow, are there any states you believe will buck that order?
Texas...
So... I too hate HR1... I too am angry I even have to think about it. However... maybe we should ask our own state's Legislature to introduce the following laws. No ID for plane travel. No ID for working. No ID for Dr. Offices. No ID requirements to attend any major convention or event and NO ID FOR VACCINES. Yes I know these are all ridiculous but think about it if according to them voting is sacred we heard it about a million times and for this sacred thing we shouldn't ask for ID then why the hell in every aspect of our lives are they asking for IDs? The idea is then when the ID nix gets completely bucked cause it's ridiculous and unsafe and prone to fraud activities we ask them why they don't care about voting.
I mean ... Marijuana is a federaly banned substance but most blue states don't seem to mind. But like some of the others have responded here, constitutionaly (if that means anything anymore) states' legislatures determine their states election.
It will probably go like this. If it passes (it very well might) most red states ignore it. Over time these red states will start to lose out on federal funding (or other things) and eventualy start adopting parts of it here and there until over time people forget about it and we all wake up one day with no electorial college.
You are asking the question - Does the United States have one of two critical things? First, do we have a functioning judiciary? Well, no. OK, do we have state and local officials with a spine to express their sovereignty. Yea - I think we do in many places.
Most of us don't recognize the authority of the feral government (typo intentional).
