They are modern American "journalists", so of course they don't do any research! Their idea of research is reading wikipedia, or twitter feeds. I taught college courses more than 20 years ago, and even back then, actual book-based, hit the library, concept of research was lost on them, and this was science classes! I can only imagine how bad it must have already been in "journalism" classes.
