I spent a 40-year career in the aerospace industry. There is a huge difference between hypothetical and experimental activities and a massive program, especially when there is no massive program. You guys just haven't seen very many contrails. I'm actually surprised you aren't concerned for rocket plumes (lots of aluminum oxide particulates from large solid boosters).
