I agree. Totally. But that wasn’t my point. I specifically set the settings to be private in every direction: contacts, email, private info, etc. Then the coworker sent me my first message.
Now it kind of reminds me of Venmo- where each transaction is applauded by everyone in your contact list.

I got rid of all social media last year. Then managed to get on Gab, Telegram, and here... I'm a lot less giving of my information now though.
I got on telegram a few years back on my phone. Took specific care to make everything private and not published.
First thing I got was a message from a coworker, who was in my phone contact list, saying “Hey!!!!! So and So..... so glad to see you here.”
I never replied and deleted everything.
Was not happy.
Yeah, I got a few messages from friends. I ignored them.
That's what texting or calling is for.

I think over the years of social media, many of us have learned to be more "cautious" of giving out information.
