I read it and then some of the comments.
The ZH community suspects that the article writers seek to move the Overton window and declare all conservatives as dumb partisans incapable of different modes of thought.
Funny thing is that I am a conservative ex liberal so when I read "partisan" thinker, it only meant liberal to me. I think conservatives are capable of more modes of thought because I have experienced the change from liberal to conservative and have only discarded narratives that are logically inconsistent on examination.
Dunning-Kruger on both sides huh! I'm smarter now than when I could only think liberal
Conservatives are as tribal and partisan as Liberals.
There are conservatives and liberals that are only so because of where they were born. These are what we call in sports - bandwagoners. They don’t consider the other side much. They do what is applauded by their environment. They like Trump while in the panhandle, but hate him while in Seattle.
These are the tribal types.
I have never met a non-tribal self-proclaimed liberal. You know, the ones with RBG on the wall over their office space and a mask in their profile picture. The online environment insulates them even while in unpreferable territory. No sincere exposure to the other point of view. As hard as learning another language while not needing to use it daily.
I have met a few conservatives that can think from both points of view, because they maybe started liberal, and are exposed to it everywhere. The Dinesh D’Souza types. These are independent thinkers. They face constant opposition that forces them to hone their thinking and debating skills. I think most of us in this space are this type, or becoming this type.
I also don’t like the word liberal. It has lost all meaning and is completely opposite of their actions.
Indeed, one of my earliest red pills was seeing just how damn intolerant liberals are of anything that questions their worldview.
Not in my experience
It’s so dangerous to be this way because they think they are the moral, righteous ones.
The liberal hive mind. The broad claims made by the authors assert that their theory applies to any political ideology. Nah, I don't buy it. This is just the way liberals think (or actually do not). We already knew that!
Interesting.
The left would make the same arguments directed to the right saying those who follow Trump are partisans and biased.
these findings make me think voter registration should be issued based on MRI.
