"A well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state." If we ignore the first half of the amendment, the second half doesn't mean shit.
You hear people crowing about "shall not be infringed." But a bunch of random people with no organization, no training, no planning, no hardened supply lines and no secure comms is entirely worthless and easily overcome, despite their being adequately armed. How "well regulated" are you?
Now as far as low-intensity conflict, we are sorely lacking in the ability to focus our power of economic boycott. How many of us can say we aren't feeding our enemies with pocketfuls of cash every day?
Most of America has become fat, lazy and stupid, and that's a large part of the problem. It's intentional. That part won't be easy to fix.
Trump lit up the enemy in high-definition detail. Now you can see it, where you didn't before. Diagnosis before cure.
It's time to figure out what part of the cure you are supposed to provide, and get busy doing it.
You make an existential point, but it is relevant to mention that the Congress has specific responsibility under the Constitution to properly supply and train the militia. Sadly, it has abandoned its responsibility.
I don't believe that's true. Can you provide a link?
NVM, I found a link. It turns out the courts have given Congress absolute authority over all militia meaning all armed citizens. The term militia seems to have been put to rest, buried, and replaced with a National Guard, rendering the former term irrelevant today. So by this interpretation, if you haven't joined the National Guard you have no right to any weapon and must turn them in immediately, and sit and wait at home for Biden/Harris to "call out the militia" should she ever deem to do so. Biden/Harris is the Commander in Chief of all weapons that may be in possession of any "militia." Thanks to various court cases, the Second Amendment has been entirely gutted, and all means of resistance to a usurping government have been long ago neutralized. Is this America?
U.S. Constitution, Section 8 "Powers of Congress," paragraph 16 (by count):
"[The Congress shall have power]...To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;"
Statutory law makes distinctions between the National Guard and the citizen militia, which is still a legal entity. Moreover, the Constitution distinguishes among the Army, Navy, and Militia. The Militia is called forth "to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;" The National Guard is able to be called forth to support overseas warfare, so it is not really a "militia."
You know, when I reference the Constitution, it would be seemly for you to go to that document and confirm what I stated. It is a rather fundamental source of law. If you didn't have a "link" to it, you could never find it?
I was more interested in your second paragraph above. That the citizen militia is still recognized as a legal entity. That's a different document, right?
