I get that this can be a hot button issue because it’s the intersection of religion and child abuse. But I’d like to see where people stand.

Catholic here. It’s the Church hierarchy that’s the problem, even down at the diocese level (local/regional). For example, our bishop is in hot water for covering up homosexual grooming of a young man by a diocesan employee, then REMOVING a well-loved Pastor from his duties for daring to speak up and report it. Your average person in the pews is perhaps even more pissed off than those on the outside looking in. There’s revival underway and we’re looking to purify our Church, led by some really incredible priests that I know personally.
Incredible priests are still priests. Jesus is our priest and advocate. Born again Christians who accept him as Lord and Saviour have no need of intermediaries priests, sacraments, sacrifices (eucharist), confession etc. We have direct access to the Father by the Blood of Jesus. Anything else is unscriptural and false.
I used to be catholic. I can’t imagine even contributing a dime or an ounce of my time after all they have done as an org to cover things up.
