So far, it is possible my UV light isn't what was advertised... I need to test and see if it puts out anything other than UVA.
Either way, I didn't get the thing because it worked super well as a germicidal, I got it to screw with Faucists. Even if it doesn't do as advertised, it does a hell of a lot more than a mask would to kill pathogens, that's for sure.
UVB in isolation for long durations may eventually be an issue for some yes, that's how the whole MUH SUN CAUSES CANCER meme started with stupid studies using artificial UVB light.
If you're smart, you'll limit your duration exposure say 15-20 min per day, and you'll include red light as well at the very least.
For myself as soon as the lockdown crap started 1 year ago I got the ExoTerra reptile UVB bulbs and leveraged that along with red+infrared for indoors. ALso MINIMIZE back lit blue light LED, for other reaons related to susceptibility to viral infections.
But also prioritizing full spectrum sunlight outdoors (sunbathing, no glasses, minimal clothes) as mcuh as I could.
UVA has benefits as well, it produces nitric oxide in the skin and that also boosts innate immunity. You can get more UVA starting mid morning depending on your latitude this time of year.
You know UVB is implicated in skin cancer right?
Yeah.
I'm doing my research before I use the thing.
