We've been friends for a very long time but he fell into the leftist deep end just before the election. Orange man bad, mean tweets, etc. I really haven't talked to him much after his rage filled messages to me about how I need help.
After Biden was "elected" my buddy suddenly wanted to be a gun owner. So he went and got a couple weapons and goes to the range and shoots regularly and seems to really enjoy it.
Now I get the text from him that starts "fu(king democrats!" And he regrets voting for Biden because of the guns laws that will be coming down the line. "Biden was supposed to be moderate! Now they are coming for the guns and they don't even understand them!"
They are helping to destroy themselves. Just not fast enough.
All I can do is smile a mile wide and not text back (yet) because I will gloat.
I agree. You've got a 'live one' on the hook, you don't want him to wiggle off. I'm glad you have the sense to bite your tongue and keep your cool. Like I said, you're a better man than me. Btw, if you don't want to get too political with him right off the bat, check out this video. It's not political, so it's not threatening to those with TDS and the like. It may be a good way to pave the way and lay a solid foundation for him, because it demonstrates how things are manipulated. Good luck! https://archive.org/details/attkissonsharylastroturf
Thank you.
The anger and frustration make it difficult to not lash out or gloat. These people have amends to make. The wronged party withholding time and attention is one way to help such people realize they have been out-of-line with their treatment of their friends and/ or family. The fishing metaphor is a good one. You can't pull too hard, but you also can't 'let them off the hook' by forgiving too easily. We have to be strong.
