underground would be super long distances

I was thinking the same too. I would expect some parts of the tunnels to be really long and straight, and would require shooting targets on the far side.

This is true. It also is chambered very weirdly. Its not a .223 or .556 or even a .308. Look at how skinny the ejection port is, if that even is an ejection port.
