You may have noticed a cacophony of birdsong in the wee hours of the morning. Scientists call this the dawn chorus. It can start as early as 4:00 a.m. and last several hours. Birds can sing at any time of day, but during the dawn chorus their songs are often louder, livelier, and more frequent.
Dawn Chorus:
The dawn chorus occurs when birds sing at the start of a new day. In temperate countries this is most noticeable in spring when the birds are either defending a breeding territory, trying to attract a mate, or calling in the flock.
When does a bird sing?
Spring time
"When do birds sing"
Dawn Chorus:
calling in the flock
The question is: who or what is "the flock" in this context?
The military?
I was thinking birds sing when put in cages. Lock em up and they start talking. Admittedly I can be way off base, but if made sense at the time.
You have just as much authority as anyone else to make a guess.
"Singing like a bird" works for me too.
When it's a rockin' robin. Tweetle-lee-deetle-lee-dee.
