I would add that people need to get the tools and materials needed to make their own ammo. Even if you have to do it collectively with friends. That's what my buddy and I have done. Now we have more than we need.
yeah reloading is a nice skill to have. i never got into that and i do want to but i've got so much ammo already i hope i'll never need to reload ammo.
Why not both? If society were to fall control of the water will control the population. Having the ability to make your own water weakens that control. Any high scale fresh water supplies will be taken.
My problem with any type of collection gathering on a surface is the amount of bacteria that floats and lands through the air. That water has zero type of filtration. Now one could argue that the particles are small enough and water vapor should be clean due to condensation, but one often doesnt take into account mold spores, pollen spores, and various bacteria that exist in the wild.
If you've never had a serious gut infection from a contaminated source then its likely you wont understand, but anyone whos done this sort of thing and gotten sick can definitely attest to it.
fuck that... don't half ass it.
stockpile ammo, food, and water as a start
and if you can swing it...
live in that RV until you can finish out a portion of the barn into a tiny house and sell the RV.
live in that tiny house until you can build a super insulated passive heating/cooling house next door and convert the tiny house into an office.
live in that until you can sell it, turn a profit, and build a bigger version.
everyone needs to quit fucking around with these major cities thinking it will get better...
it's not going to get better.
it's going to get exponentially worse.
build your salvation.

if i ever run out there is a major problem.
cold and distance from the boarder helps keep the riffraff out.
so does lots of trees and a well used shooting range.
i just bought ammo yesterday
i will not calm down
lol
Gotta shop around and check neighboring towns
Damn and I thought I had it bad in a red county behind enemy lines in a "blue" state!
Since you mentioned Boy Scouts. Get a hold of a Boy Scout Manual printed in the 50´s, before it got sissified. Loads of great information.
I have mine, my Dad's, AND his dad's. Mine is from the 80's. It's virtually the same as the older two.
[they] didn't kill the Boy Scouts. It's just been infiltrated and taken over like everything else good in this world.
Who killed the boy scouts? I'm ready to go down this rabbit hole. What happened to the boy scouts? What do I look up
Plastic to collect fresh dew? Stop thinking so small.. Build a charcoal and sand filter and collect gallons....

Just got my first ham this week 10 meter beginner, I will receive the antenna soon and get it installed. Gotta take the test yet tho...
I'd be very interested to know more. I have no idea what would actually be practical for my situation though.
