I'm a person who likes to support causes and show more support for them (usually stuff for veterans and animals) but a specific Q post comes to mind in which he says to beware (or be mindful) of paytriots.
I like others want to be able to show support for a movement/cause and I also am an artist. Would designing things and selling them make me a paytriot?
If greed isn't on your mind and you are producing good art for a fair price, not price gouging or taking advantage of people in a way which you think is bad, then I think you are morally fine. It's a free market mostly, if people like your stuff they are welcome to buy it, nothing wrong with making profit off of a non-zero sum transaction that leaves both parties feeling like they got a good deal and are better off.
Let me put the question back at you:
How did Apostle Paul earn his living?
Did he become a paystrian for accepting donations and living of the Good News? Did his miracle acts only take effect after donating a couple of coins in his coffers? Or did he first wet the appetite and then asked for dough, before imparting them the wisdom carefully hidden in Christ?
How about Jesus? He lived for three years without so much as an income. Granted, he had it easy, because he could have Peter catch a fish having a coin in its mouth.
@Richard-Engineer.
Operating a platform cost money. How is that earned?
However, what happens if you can access the data for free, without obligation to buy something?
In that sense, I would rather consider people like Ann Coulter to be a paytriot. Or Mittens.
Whether I agree with X-22 or not, is beside the point. If I don't want to listen to him, i won't be looking for his thoughts on certain events.
All right, friend, this was you flack for today. ;-)
To me paytriots sell mass produced things or steer you to other businesses as a way to cash in. Like selling vitamins, other supplements, or steering you to investment outfits. Imagining, designing, and producing one off or small batch artisanal items doesn’t offend me.
Not if this is your profession. Go ahead. Paytriots are usually people who claim to be right out there telling the truth and enlightening us. We appreciate their digging, and then they want us to spend some moolah. It is jarring. Many others are not portraying themselves as the saviors of mankind, and they have stuff to sell. It's a little hard to explain, but perhaps you get my drift. Go ahead and make great things!!
Thank you for the feedback everyone. This really put my mind at ease. I have so many ideas of cute things (like a cute eagle sticker) and I really just want to make people smile during these trying times.
Go for it, pastel. Use your skills to help the movement and to support yourself. Nothing wrong with that.
You can always support them and should if you value their content. That being said you should keep in mind that their exchanging information and content with you for money. Meaning discernment is absolutely crucial. None of these folks running a pay to view scheme have any more legit information then anyone else spending their time doing the same thing. Someone always knows someone "in the military". It doesn't mean everyone's lying it just means those people are trusting someone and your 3 or 4th in line playing telephone. Some of them are about the movement and cover the costs of operation only. Others want you to buy their t-shirts and their premium content and are absolutely making a killing. Meaning there's incentive to make that video title a bit more provocative or to add some "fishing story" style elements to whatever little tidbit they started with. Point being just because some asshole with a website says it does not make it so. That we must remember not everyone that presents as an ally is. That a lot of time and money will go into the opposite of the Q movement [DS disinformation/programming/distractions] this isn't limited to the MSM but ALL aspects of media consumption. So I guess it depends on your motivation.
