I work on these containers that contain food. Would be pretty easy to set one up with air conditioning, there’s even a vent to let in outside air for the chill box (refrigerator) setting. I’ve turned a couple of them into air conditioned spaces to hide out in at work. Ahem, “store our climate sensitive orings and gaskets” (play cards on breaks without bosses finding us). I don’t work for a shipping company I just have some of these as assets when walk in freezers and such go down.
Around 15-20 years ago. A good friend of mine was driving truck.ive gone on many trips to the port to pickup containers and bring them to chinese warehouses.my city is full of chinese owned warehouses.
Ive wondered for years how many illegal immigrants we transported without even knowing. Now i sit here and wonder how many kids and trafficking victims coulda been in those containers.
As far as inspecting them? Weve gone in,hooked a chassis.drove under the crane as they picked the container off the ship and dropped it right on our chassis.
Yea I was wondering that myself. There must be a lot more players involved in this operation than we think. Unless they are in modified containers where they can get out themselves, someone has to let them out at a strategic time or they risk running out of food and water. If they can't let themselves out one would think that there are people working in the yards or as truck drivers who are part of the operation. If that is not the case I guess they would stay in there until they reach their intended destination.
Never as a job, but we had a few in the back of our shop for storage, and yea its a hellish environment with the sun beating on them. The only way i could see someone surviving more than an hour or 2 in a closed container in direct sun is with some kind of air conditioning system in place. Otherwise you are toast.

Fuck, only 15% inspected?
What if a nuke is in one?
Scary shit.

I'm wondering how long the little kids can last on that Evergreen ship.
You would think they'd be wanting to off load the containers to save the little kids.

Ever unload those containers for a job?
It's stuffy and HOT inside especially during warmer weather.

When they move children via ship containers, they already know the percentage of children that will die.
Sadly, that is probably true.
