massive damage + fires cooking remaining supports = eventually the damaged area can no longer hold up the weight of the building above.
in the towers it was the damaged middle of the building trying to hold up the top... when it failed the top smashed through the bottom.
when 7 failed it just smashed into the ground.
we're talking millions of tons.
once it starts moving it's not going to stop till it settles on the ground.
it's like hitting a fly in the air when you are skydiving... it doesn't slow you down because your mass + inertia far far far outweigh the forces the fly puts on you on impact.
once the supports in a building fail, it's fucking over with.
damage + fires caused failure in all three cases.
not as sexy as invisible ninjas planting explosives undetected... but it's reality.
two of the largest buildings in the world just blasted themselves into the ground right next door, ripping a big chunk out of 7, (img search wtc 7 damage).
there were multiple fuel tanks for backup power generation... i think like 4 or 5 different tanks of diesel around the lower floors.
the fires spread and the firefighters couldn't do shit about it (sadly by then a lot of them were either dead or very injured injured)... all the trucks that got to the scene to fight the tower fires were obliterated in the collapse of the two towers.
7 burned for a while before it dropped.
the building was showing signs of an impending collapse and the fire guys in charge ordered everyone the fuck out... they weren't trying to lose more firefighters than they already had.
it was a shitty situation but once the fires got out of control, combined with the damage, there was nothing they could have done.
it was doomed.
all they could do was try to get everyone the fuck away from that building before it came down.
All I can ever find relative to 9/11 is theories involving criminal conspiracy, which is certainly a strong possibility
I saw a materials scientist explain that once the top floor of a tower falls on the one below, the weight of the two overwhelms the supporting infrastructure, and they fall through to the next one, and so on. No melting needed.
But I was impressed with the straightness of the drops. I thought after a couple dozen stories some lateral deviation would naturally start to occur and send them toppling.
it's the same formula as the towers.

Thanks
How did 7 catch fire though? I thought that was the big conspiracy, that there were files in there or something that needed to be burned

Interesting

There was actually a study done on 7. All columns failed at the same time. #physics. #brainwashedDontWantULooking
