If they didn’t even say the word COVID we would have just gone about our lives like normal. 38 million + flu cases 2 seasons ago, and this last season only 1,800. You can’t tell me they haven’t just renamed the flu COVID to scare us.
I’m just wondering why I’m suffering from seasonal allergies(?). If a face mask can protect me from COVID, then why can’t it do the same for pollen? SMH
This is actually the selfish response, Hanshake Man. Do you understand that? YOU are the bad person. You know why? Because you are so myopic you only see things from your own selfish perspective. Have you ever considered the deaf, who rely on the reading of lips to feel connected to human society? No you did not. Because you are selfish. Because you think small. Because you parrot the thoughts corporations put in your head. Fuck off with your control freak corporate media hysterical BULLSHIT. You are a BAD PERSON. Wake the fuck up. Human beings are free to determine their OWN level of fear of death, not YOU. You are not the boss of the world.
Thank you for this. Hard of hearing and considered a service disabled veteran because of it. Masks interfere with the wearing of hearing aids.
I depend a lot on reading lips to figure out what people are saying and reading facial expressions to recognize tone. I hate this mask shit and have been a hermit for the past year because of it.
Yes, this! I am partially deaf, and the masks have caused me to never want to leave the house. I have to be able to read someone’s lips in order to understand what they are saying, and it It truly seems like there is no end to the stupidity.
Did you know that people who communicate using sign language still additionally rely on facial expressions for supplemental information? Sign language is a very expressive language because they are making up for losing all communicable dimensions of the aural spectrum
Is your friend a healthy person who makes good lifestyle choices and has no co-morbid illness? If so, he falls into an extremely rare group. Every year before covid, some people under 30 "almost died" from influenza as well.
I’m less concerned by death than I am by losing my sense of smell/taste or having trouble going upstairs, as those residual effects are supposed to be more common.
There is a non negligible risk of disability each time you get in your car. Each time someone smokes a cigarette. Unprotected sex. Eating processed foods daily. Why don't we immediately ban all of these things? Your fear should have nothing to do with my rights.
It’s unfortunate your friend and dentist got an illness and had some consequences from it. The good news is they recovered, and perhaps your dentist will regain his sense of smell in the future.
People get sick from diseases all of the time. Except for particular diseases that are harsh with extremely high mortality rates (think Ebola or hemorrhagic fever as examples), why have we never, ever worried about a cold before? Especially while ignoring the data that shows many of the diseases people die from every year are suddenly gone. The flu? Not this year. Obesity/heart disease? Covid is much more lucrative. In fact, Covid is the most sinister of every disease known to man. Most people have to be tested to know they have it!
None of the crap they are doing does much to stop the spread of a virus. A mask that won’t stop a smoke particle isn’t going to stop water vapor or a virus that are much smaller.
I’ve had people close to me die from all kinds of things. Should I stop living my life as normal because of that?
If your 24 year old friend almost died, he isn't as healthy as you think he is. You might consider such a reaction to be a warning of future problems. Viruses only do damage in bodies that are already HEAVILY inflamed, which is precisely why only the old and infirm die from it.
Viruses/retroviruses aren't what most people think, do some research.

Yet pollen spores are much bigger than a virus cell... ? /Heavy Sarcasm

What did he say?
Calm down, dude.
Not all deaf and hard of hearing people know sign language.

Yep, healthy, a gym buddy actually.

I wasn’t trying to fault him for not having empathy, I was just disproving the notion that we would “just forget” if masks didn’t exist.
And then a bunch of other people lunged at me, as if that’s impossible.
Some of y’all need to take a step back and think of others.

You quarantine the sick, not the healthy.
