In the first couple of days of this Covid hoax, Trump tried to downplay it. He didn’t straight up call it the next corporate media hoax, but you could tell he knew. And the media just slammed him for it. They went nuts. He then retreated and when he came back, instead of being dismissive, he went the opposite direction. He made it a huge military problem and started comparing it to WW2. Now it wasn’t just a contagious flu, it was “the plague”. In a way, at the time, that might have been a smart strategy - it definitely caught them off-guard.
But looking back now, would we all be better off if we had called it out as a hoax from the start? Yes the media would have gone hysterical, but even in their hysteria, wouldn’t they be on the defensive? They would have had to divert a lot of their time and energy to countering the hoax claim. And Trump had such loyalty, and such authority, that it could have changed the whole narrative around this thing from the start. It would have been a few weeks of shrieking from the left, but then what? Perhaps if we had just outlasted that initial temper tantrum, we could have stopped this thing. It seems like every time we concede to one of the left’s lies thinking it will be easier to just go along with them on this one thing so they shut up, it never works.
I believe they forced trumps hand. If he called it a hoax they would have immediately released a more deadly virus.
This makes sense.
