If masks worked to prevent the spread of flu, then anyone not wearing one could be charged with mass slaughter.

Masks don't work to prevent the spread of flu. They do work in creating bacterial respiratory infections. Which is why no one in America wore masks except in particular circumstances and in a particular way.
