If he is guilty he should pay. I believe he should be presumed innocent until proven otherwise. A "principled" step down only serves to cast doubt on the person. I don't know enough about Gaetz to have an opinion either way but this whole thing just smells...
Agreed -- this is America and we believe in innocent before proven guilty. This should be true of all politicians no matter their party. It's just too easy to be caught up in online communities and just jump to conclusions. A good reminder that we need evidence regardless whether they are republicans or dems.
The forces behind the allegations will do anything to keep up the pressure including threats to anyone around Gaetz. They don’t want this resolved in court.
I dont understand the Gaetz situation; he has always seemed weird to me but I assumed if he was elected under Trump he was "good" - I am now realizing Trump set some people up to be exposed.

There's too little information. All we know is an investigation exists and it was leaked, as usual, to the NY Times by the feds. Then there's Gaetz claims of attempted extortion, which so far we just have his word on. Just need to wait and see how things shake out.

Definitely jumping the gun, but if Greenberg has actually flipped on Matt Gaetz, that's something I haven't seen reported before now.
