Seven deadly sins, also called seven capital sins or seven cardinal sins, in Roman Catholic theology, the seven vices that spur other sins and further immoral behaviour. First enumerated by Pope Gregory I (the Great) in the 6th century and elaborated in the 13th century by St. Thomas Aquinas, they are
(1) vainglory, or pride,
(2) greed, or covetousness,
(3) lust, or inordinate or illicit sexual desire,
(4) ENVY,
(5) gluttony, which is usually understood to include drunkenness,
I took a course to learn how to be a copywriter once. All the techniques used in marketing inflame all the seven deadly sins. Example: vanity or pride. Used when selling exercise equipment, beauty products or diet pills. My gut turned thinking about using my skills as a writer to convince people to buy a worthless product that they thought would cure their woes, by invoking sin. People need God. Not the latest product. Like the great Bill Hicks once said, “anyone here in marketing? Kill yourself.” Needless to say, I wasted my money on that course. I decided to write a novel instead.
The course wasn't a waste of time if it woke you up to what is going on in marketing. Not only were you enlightened, but you enlightened everyone here. I take that as a win.

Did you see the movie 'Seven'? with Sean Penn, I think. Old movie but still fresh in my mind. Was good, but bad!
Oh yes, you are right, it wasn't Penn it was Spacey. Some of this is really making sense now, Kevin Spacey playing the part.
Yes, I have. Very good movie, but really eerie.
