I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. So you don't believe. Okay. Lots of people don't believe. Why is that worthy of a lengthy post. Are you sure you're not trying to be persuaded? Regardless, If Jesus was good, as you say, then He wouldn't lie and Jesus asserted His deity many times. Read the Gospel of John. Just one example is the famous John 3:16. "For in such manner did God love the world, insomuch that His Son, the uniquely begotten One, He gave, in order that everyone who places his trust in Him may not perish but may be having life eternal."
Jesus said that. About Himself. Either He was telling the truth, lying, or was a lunatic. Which one is it? You can find out very easily by humbling yourself and saying a simple prayer like this, "God, I don't even believe you exist. But if you do exist, I want to know the truth. If you really do exist, please reveal yourself to me."
As long as you are sincere, and not mocking or flippant, and you say something along those lines, that is literally all it takes to get your answer.
I was raised without religion. With time I prayed as you indicated above. I got answered fairly quickly, with signs and evidence. But proof and personal revelation took over ten years.
I've come to understand the Bible to be true, but easily misunderstood. Sometimes dangerously misinterpreted, like Saul of Tarsus murderously, zealously, dangerous.
