If you have a local government you need local taxes. If you have a state government you need state taxes. If you have a federal government you need federal taxes. So, if you want a world government you need ...?

I believe the United Nations (UN) is funded by members which means they can opt out whenever they want which is something the Globalists would not like so they need a global tax to make the UN permanent. The UN is their prototype world government.

They tried the climate scare first. That was also on-target to produce a global tax. It was being sold as a tax to help underdeveloped countries but, in my opinion, it would be morphed over time to skim off more "overhead" which would go to fund the UN.

This is just their latest attempt.
