Fun fact: The Jews were allowed to have land because the Szlachta in the Sjem and the monarchy knew the Jews wouldn't be late or miss payments. They weren't allowed to make laws and participate in the Sjem though. Also, they were often considered temporary or transitional land owners until a decent member of the Szlachta was found to be financially solvent.
