I still believe this quote from Red October best describes Trump's situation:

I think (((they))) had planned for the lockdown to continue way into 2022 by saying a vaccine would be ready then, but Trump "turned the sub" with Warp Speed, so they could not use the vaccine as an excuse to keep the lockdown. Remember the resistance to "Trumps's Vaccines" by the MSM in the beginning?
