They never said they wouldn't take donations. They've discouraged their viewers from making donations in the past. Now, well, who's gonna stop a donor from donating and a buyer from buying merch? They damn well decide what they want to do with their own dollars, and we're not tyrants to decide for them.
And GN isn't banned from GAW. That ban no longer had any effect as soon as the mod resigned, but the damage that the ban caused was truly devastating.
If you're gonna insult someone, at least insult them with the truth.
No, they were devastating. A good mod should have been sensitive to the enormous influence that their opinion carries and the risk of splitting his own community into polarized camps. This mod, being inexperienced with those nuances, developed a messianic complex to save us from "predatory paytriots" and dictated our opinion "for our own good". Users found their ability to discuss GN suddenly stifled, and many users left this community specifically because of this unilateral censorship action.
While he was a proficient mod and site dev, I firmly disagree that Evspra was "best mod" at all for these actions and others that he showed during this episode. Mod Ness gave perhaps the best perspective overall on this here (permalink to comment: skip the very long OP which is mine).

I'll leave it at that, because I really don't want to keep on digging up the past over and over again.
That "vote" was inherently biased and certainly not as conclusive as you would believe.
Firstly, that was not a vote at all, given that it was attached to the post itself and to the user, and people were hesitant to downvote or even disagree with a mod they respected. That inherently meant that that "poll" was biased in favour of the person posing the question. Unfortunately this site does not have proper polling support, which would have separated the personality of the mod from the question posed.
Secondly, any potential participants would have had to have been aware of every single thing that this mod were posting. As far as I was aware, that post only garnered the interest of a few hundred users that were present at the time and aware of the drama when in fact there are thousands browsing this site. This site does not revolve around him, you know.
Thirdly, that poll was conducted in the heat of the moment, directly after he presented the evidence and his decisions but well before anyone had enough time (think in terms of not just hours to a couple of days, but several days to weeks to even months) to properly and thoroughly investigate and verify his claims. He also only gave a short window of a few hours to conduct this poll. We're not in the business of making summary judgments.
Well, whatever he decreed, it's no longer in effect, because he resigned and was removed from the mod team, precisely because he made all his decisions unilaterally without consulting the rest of the mods and caused such furore on this site. He "came back" under a different account, which has also been deleted. And yet we're still here.
This latest Chat Line was fairly quiet this time around, so not a whole lot of new content to look into, at least on the surface.

But perhaps you really mean the Telegrams involving things like the Key [7], and Conan [5], and Emails. Yeah, they seem like very elaborate larps: A key that could have been bought off eBay for a princely sum, or maybe genuinely given to them (perhaps 1 to each member present) by Scavino and Trump. Conan as imagined by actors portraying Liz Crokin and whoever George is on Instagram, or maybe genuinely discussed about by the real individuals themselves. Emails and UI that are subtly edited each time to make it look like they're making mistakes that could compromise their ID and OPSEC, or emails genuinely screenshotted off of their laptop. And all done with such ongoing precision that they are accurately able to feign inaccuracy for so many months and years.
Or maybe you're really talking about the albums that they purportedly copied off of Alamy, or the WH45 Archive Flickr which I believe they promised to upload on January 13, 2021 (Second compilation, timestamp 20:26) [2], and later shared the link to on February 4, 2021 [7], well before anyone thought of them as paytriots.

Agreed. FWIW, I didn’t personally take OP’s comment about “donors gonna donate”, etc as direct promotion but merely recognition that it does and will happen (and I don’t think you were implying that he meant it that way—you’re just clarifying the expectations of the community). That said, I agree completely that those of us on the pro-GN side of the debate should not shill financially for them here, though I will admit to having some of their “God wins” merch that just makes me happy by its own message and would do so no matter who sold it. GN just happens to be where I found it.
