I'm thinking baggage. Looks like a Beach Baron low wing plane. It has a nose baggage compartment but not a lot of space like a car trunk.

Baron, Bonanza, Piper Seneca. All have similar looking interior configurations. Private pilots are great people and the majority that I've met are happy to have good company and an excuse to fly.
