I agree, I was getting lunch yesterday at the one shop we always go to and we ( 3 of us) don't wear masks in it even know the sign says so but they only put that up to be "compliant" and never enforce it and a guy of about 72 walked in and the first thing he said was can't we read the sign on the door?! 2 of us basically said mind your own business buddy and out 3rd guy essentially lit the old dude up with a verbal smashing. At first I was like damn that's excessive but he said afterwards that these people no matter who they are need to be called out. He also pointed out to the older gentleman that he was wearing his face diaper improperly because it wasn't covering his nose. I do agree that these people can't be allowed to control the narrative of wear your mask.
Why is a 72 year old mask-wearing fear-monger going out into public spaces? He should be locked up in his home where he belongs, never to set foot in the outside world again as that is what his fear dictates. He should listen to his own instincts and go back to hiding in his closet.
You know, just putting forth logic based off the individual's attitude towards the virus; if fear is that great of a factor, then stay the fuck home.
It was more a rhetorical question, as I know exactly why they do it. Feeling powerless, they grasp onto anything they can to get some of that empowerment back. And since it's easier to control others' behavior through fearmongering and authoritarian action than it is to police one's own behavior, this is where you develop the "mask Kens / Karens".
He could stay home and get perpetual delivery services and lie in hiding while his immune system continues to atrophy on a daily basis; or he could go out into the public spaces that bring him so much fear and tell other people what to do. He chose the latter.

I don't disagree! He should be home watching CNN.

They can't control their own minds. Fear is a powerful tool. Willing participation in The drama is also powerful for escapist.
