If any major cities near me gets hit with anything 50mt or bigger I'm just SOL. That's comforting to know...
Size Matters. 10 to 30 kt more within reach for those with modest access to fissile material.
10 sounds good. 30 is too close for my liking.
Something you could escape from if not too close.
Ya, 50mt is no joke. Its a world ender. Lets hope it doesn't come to that.
While I want to hit that detonate button, even though it's simulation, I just feel like someone(black hats) would come knocking on my door.
Former Army Chemical Officer (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical). been doing these sims for years and so far so good.
Wait, someone's at the door.....
lol
We used to play with this is hen I was in the Navy. It's very soberig to know that if/when the "bombs" drop, every major/medium sized city and outlying area will be affected. And most of us won't make it out of that type of situation.
Big Urban centers SOL. Be interesting to see what sort of advances have been made in missile defense.
Hear they have developed electronic means to interrupt nuclear detonation sequences.
More flyover country off the hook with post cold war closure of SAC bases (for me that's Griffiss and Plattsburg).
Nation/State attack would likely start with Cental US EMP followed by higher yield airburst over cities (max casualties, keep the ground from soaking up blast energy).
Terrorist likely ground burst due to limited delivery capability. Poison Earth, lots of fallout.
If you get the opportunity, get the book, Effects if Nuclear Weapons. Got a " Wizz wheel" in the back. Sort of a circular slide rule that let's you calculate all that. Pretty cool... got it in grad school.
TY Fren. Lost all my materials from Army days.
