It's no more weird than people expecting you to not swear at them in public. A public social media platform where people can express all manners of opinions is a free speech platform and banning cussing doesn't detract from that at all. In fact, it increases the dialogue between the varying sides. People are forced to argue their sides politely instead of just cursing each other out.
