I agree that division has been a apparatus of control for a long time, but I disagree that "racism" has been the device for centuries.
Per dictionary.com, the word racism can only be traced back to 1900 and originated in France. At the time, there was a growing awakening of the masses to the disparity of wealth. What perfect timing to develop said racism device to pit the mob against one another, eh? Also note the academic spread of eugenics shortly thereafter, especially at the renowned Harvard university. Russia goes Commie in 1917, Germany goes authoritarian shortly thereafter . . .
