My “uncle” (close family friend) is a retired sheriff’s deputy for a county near us. Went on a ride along with him and one of my cousins when we were in high school. We pulled up to the intake area at the station because he had to drop something off, and as we pulled in he yelled “get DOWN! Apparently a violent perp was in the same area being led into the station. I will never forget that evening. Cops are a different breed, God bless them.
