So sorry for your loss. I used to work in Nursing homes as a therapist. Some of my clients were just happy to see someone (even me a stranger) come to visit them. I used to do some quick evaluations with new residents to see if they needed my service. Some of them had a hard time letting me go after the 15 min session. It was hard to leave them when you know they just wanted to talk to someone. In another instance, I had several men who had had strokes that I saw in a group just for socialization to help them use what little language they had left. They would wait a half an hour for me to come before I came to see them. They insisted they be dressed had breakfast and ready for our meeting I had a long drive to see them and we had a snowstorm in my area that prevented me from coming their scheduled meeting day.. the nurse told me when I arrived the following week they all had waited the full hour and a half at our table for me. They were so disappointed when I couldn't make it. Socialization is so important for the elderly. I will NEVER forget what this bogus COVID scare did to so many of them.
