TIL:
Pope Formosus was exhumed 7 months after death, and propped up for a trial, where his corpse was found guilty. They stripped him of papal vestments and cut off three fingers of his right hand to nullify blessings and such, then buried him in graveyard for foreigners.
Later, he was dug up, tied to weights, and they threw his ass in the river.
Later still, another pope had him pulled from river, and reburied with bishop vestments after annulling the trial.
Then, another pope, who was part of the trial, overturned previous popes and declared him guilty again.
Arresting a dead guy would be like impeaching a civilian
Hey one particular dead pope got exhumed and put on a posthumous trial TWICE.

Precedent for doing the same for Pope Franny Pachamama.
How would it be any different than letting a dead guy vote?
