I don't think Trump wins with two outsiders. Too much chance for the media to reign down on them relentlessly. At least with Pence they thought they had their "back up plan" in Impeachment/25th amendment.
Pence was great as a calming figure on the ticket as well. Good ying/yang with Trump.
Trump likely doesn't trust any of these guys, his circle is extremely small. He uses and abuses his enemies to do his bidding for a time until they attempt to turn on him. He's already ready when they do and kicks them to the curb.
You need to play in the system to destroy the system in this case. Too many outsiders and no one gets confirmed to the Cabinet. Trump had to walk a fine line to get things done.
That's an interesting theory. One of my biggest questions about Trump was how/why he came to appoint all these people who turned out to be sellout rat bastards (I thought he would have been smarter than that). Wouldn't explain Judas Benedict Pence, though.
That's kinda what I'd been leaning towards. It makes the most sense. I'm upset I didn't see through it sooner, though. I'd eaten up that "30-Pence-is-a-religious-and-virtuous-man" story, hook line and sinker :/
I believe he was forced to take Pence as VP by the establishment RINOS. Just like Reagan they knew he was renegade and wanted him to have a keeper in Pence. Trump knew all along Pence would betray him. It had to be this way.
It's called the FISA works both ways. What better way to monitor the people you suspect of being traitors by bringing them close to work with you. Trump and co. knew there was a FISA on Trump so anyone who had contact with him would be monitored every which way. Genius if you ask me. Might as well use that FISA for good.
Bad actors removed and good actors installed ( body doubles ) or bad people removed from position and good ones replaced them.
Sleepers uncovered - all the bad people Pres Trump picked was him finding all the people they had questions about.
Enemies close and he gave them the impression they were scamming him while he was playing them. I can appreciate that.

He scammed the heck out of them by letting the steal stand and bitching out.

I have always wondered the same till it dawned on me, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
The republican establishment forced Pence on Trump even though he was a known traitor (the plot with Paul Ryan).
Cleaning out the entrenched Washington criminals has been a big job. I just hope they're not all let go without significant consequences.
Durham? We'll see.

Would be an absolutely genius thing to do...
Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
Or they flipped and are working for our side. Remember we have everything on them
Except Pence. And Barr. And maybe Durham. And who knows how many more?
