The republican establishment forced Pence on Trump even though he was a known traitor (the plot with Paul Ryan).

Cleaning out the entrenched Washington criminals has been a big job. I just hope they're not all let go without significant consequences.

That's kinda what I'd been leaning towards. It makes the most sense. I'm upset I didn't see through it sooner, though. I'd eaten up that "30-Pence-is-a-religious-and-virtuous-man" story, hook line and sinker :/
