If that deterrent is good enough for a police officer then why not for me or anyone else? There are occupations where people are at the same level of risk from injury or death at the hands of criminal elements as a police officer. You are assigning more value to a life simply because it is an agent of the state. That is wrong and a dangerous direction. Politicians receive constant death threats and are agents of the state. Do they deserve such distinction?
Federal Agents who investigate fraud are afforded legal protection. FBI and Secret Service are afforded legal protection Federal Marshals are afforded legal protections
When you place your life at risk to protect others; there are penalties for being attacked
You are welcome to join. And yea, if someone attacks you, you are also legally protected. If someone kills you, your murderer will be charged, and possibly face a death sentence as well
It’s a legal deterrent, not protection. It makes state agents more worthy in the eyes of the law than ‘lesser’ civilians. Don’t kill the armed and trained agent because we value them more but kill the (often) unarmed and untrained civilian instead.
How many drunk drivers are you forced to deal with a day? How many domestic violence situations do you deal with daily? How many armed robberies do you run to?
Again, you are welcome to apply.
Or you can do drug interdiction, or forensic work on fraud worth millions or billions. Border Patrol, or track down escaped Felons
Are there people worth more than the man on the street? Yup
No, there aren't, communist. There are only authority cock - gobbling supremist scum who believe that stupid shit.
RED HERRING
That’s the job. Unless they live under a rock, anyone applying for a job in law enforcement is aware of this.
Are there people worth more than the man on the street? Family, of course. But in general, NO.
Besides, you might ask the family of the man on the street if his life is worth less than the police officer.
I won’t assign myself such a power to universally determine the value of other people.
