True story: Yesterday Mrs. FPP and I were on our way to pick up some provisions from our local hardware store. On our way we were on a 4 lane highway connector. It was around 2pm in the afternoon. It was sunny, no clouds at all. There was a young man, probably around 16 years of age walking on the shoulder of the road staring down at his phone ... he had a mask on. HE HAD A MASK ON, WALKING OUT IN THE OPEN. HE HAD A FUCKING MASK ON !!!!!
I regret not taking a photo ... but as God is my witness this happened.
We have a LONG LONG way to go yet.
If you were surprised to see this, then you must live in an area that is already better than most.
When I take my dog out for a walk in the park, I keep track of non-masked vs masked people on the trail surrounded by trees and clean air.
One thing I have noticed over several months of doing this: if the weather is fair, the number of mask users increases. If the weather is marginal or poor, the ratio changes significantly.
In good weather I will see anywhere from 2:1 to 5:1 non-masked to masked. In poor weather it has been as much as 25:1 non-masked to masked.
My hypothesis is that this has something to do with risk aversion.
