I have attended several different churches and here is what Ive observed:
Very conservative, high senior citizen percentage: Pews are full, many are maskless.
Moderate leaning, many young familes: Pews are almost empty. Those who attend wear masks
Sad. Isn't it?
What are you seeing?
The first one sounds like my church... although there are a lot of seniors, they are young in spirit and have blessed me with so much amazing discipleship over the past year and a half (when I joined).. I feel like I'm cheating because it's so good, but that is how the Lord has blessed me. Being around this "type" of church has matured me and prepared me for the true battles (not the political ones) that we as believers face. My focus has been able to be solely on my sanctification and obedience to the Lord, while being encouraged and edified by the elders.
I came from the seeker friendly type and had a lot of Jonathan's and Timothy's, but never any Paul's in my life. Now I'm surrounded by Paul's who are helping get me ready again to have the Timothy's in my life and ministry.. With this time being a lot more fruitful.
Thank You again, Jesus.. and thank You for a place where I can proclaim openly for what You've done and continue to do with me.
I lwft my LCMS Lutheran church due to their mask policy. I found a church that is Biblically based, mask free, and everyone is smiling and happy.
Michigan - Catholic traditional Latin mass, all normal (if you speak Latin, that is): no masks, no distancing, priest delivering communion, annual country dance and dinner last two winters.
Michigan
United Methodist church has 2 services on Sunday - 9:30 service = masks required. 11:00 service = masks optional
Los Angeles. All churches open wear masks, except for 2. This is all age groups, including youth groups. Some temperature check at the door. Those two are full at all service hours, with difficult parking. May have different info to report tomorrow, but that was true last week.
The church I attend is small and a mix of ages. Pretty full..No one really wears a mask. Ohio
WA, Australia. Only been 2 mask mandates, each a week long. Everyone was masked both times. I just didn't go those weeks, rather just worship at home with my dad then sit muffled for an hour. I think it's just completely disrespectful and borderline blasphemous to sing and pray with half your face covered.
Dress standard is pretty high, suits, dresses, casual formal Etc, no wearing hats because it's disrespectful but if the government tells you to cover half your face they'll all bend over backwards.
It pissed me off, the doctrine is sound, the people are good. But we (not just this church but Christianity in general) keep making 'small' concessions to keep their freedom of religion. Societies morals have been degrading since the 60s and all we do is just let the gradual osmosis happen. Compared to the early church, who blatantly disobeyed Roman authorities to practice their faith under penalty of death. We won't even assemble without the governments permission, under the threat of what? A fine? Jail? We've all gone soft, God help us when they decide compliance is not enough and start actual persecution again.
