I expect them to blame the audit for one of two reasons:

They (the audit) deleted it due to incompetence, and restored it.
They (the audit) deleted it and faked the change dates in order to create a scandal and put the election board in legal trouble.

#2 is unlikely as a criminal investigation to the original HD's would show that to be patently false.
