I know there are loads of you going maskless since the beginning but please let me share a win for me in my neighborhood. I live LA. Since March 2020 I have never seen anyone INSIDE a business without a mask. Unless in a restaurant lately.
Since I heard TJs was allowing people to enter without masks I saw that no one was doing it. The fear of being attacked and videoed and shamed it quite real here. Plus I heard CA won’t be lifting anything until June 15.
That all said...Yesterday I did it.
I grabbed a cart, got a spritz of hand sanitizer (which I never do), and shopped. My heart was pounding out of my chest, but it was my cheeks that were hurting me the most because I was trying to suppress the smile on my face the whole time.
I shopped for 15mins. Leaning across people, chatting with the cashier, smiling at everyone. It was fucking amazing! I was the only one inside the grocery store without a mask, living like a normal person while everyone else still chooses to live in their dystopian sick world.
I can’t wait to do it again!
PS. The best part was this rocker dude in an anarchy shirt that said Fuck the (something) on it was in line with his mask under his nose. The look in his eyes when I smiled at him was perfection.
Really Trader Joe’s that’s great they are tough ! I’m in San Diego , I’ve never worn a mask , but it’s because I made a medical exempt badge , however traders Joe’s and Cosco were the worse as far as scrutinizing my medical exempt ..I’m a tall blond pretty surfer girl and I don’t look sick lol ! Cosco after 6 months of dealing with me stopped me one day and said “ medical exempt people need to wear a face shield and tried to hand me one, I walked out.. I didn’t take the chance at Trader Joe’s, after it got really bad about 6 months into this crime they had line guards monitoring us in the parking lot, I simply and somewhat shamelessly mouthed the words medical exempt when they came over to pounce ! Trader Joe’s is good with special needs type, they are the kind liberals lol , they quickly brought me to front of line as they were texting to me , can I help you find anything, which I texted back , what isle are your wonderful candles on again ? This mask thing really struck a cord with me, I came out of a tough back east childhood of poverty and abuse and fighting my way out of that horror strengthened me! I just could not and would not let them take my rights from me. I know what you mean about NO one was maskless..this past year I was literally the only one in stores without one , honestly it was a bit intimidating sometimes , I really felt out of place especially when the grocery stores started that one line to stand in and circles on the floor with the guards walking up and down the lines checking to make sure masks were fully on face or that u were on your circle , I was pretty fkn shocked it was a mild form of communism , mild prison type treatment for sure and it felt really awful!
You a real one OP!!!
And I love how you notes that the dude w a “fuck the system” shirt on was wearing a mask!!! Lmao that’s something that boggles my mind; how all these “anti-system” youths continue to fall in line!
Keep spreading the love man!
My friend claims she is an anarchist punk but wears a mask. Im more anacrchy than she is, only wore them a handful of times in commie CA in the beginning. Never got bothered when I was maskless in CA. Moved out though, thank God, Oi oi.
I was received an internship in LA March 1st 2020. Signed a lease March 3rd. The city was shut down a week later. Made my money doing grocery delivery with an app called Shipt
Got scolded multiple times for not wearing gloves when I was grocery shopping. I remember one time a lady said to me, “you know the CDC requires gloves when shopping. I don’t know why people are wearing masks though. The CDC has said they are not effective”.
Always thought that was funny. Anyways, broke the lease last June and couldn’t be happier I moved away from that liberal shit show of a city
Moving from socal was the best decision my family made!
I've never worn a mask: love the look of surprise and wonder on the faces of little children when I smile at them. Priceless.
I did the same two days ago, but instead of CA it was in UT, but in liberal SLC.
Me too! There were about a dozen of us in mine.
The only way to end this madness is to just throw that filthy thing away and never look back. Arm yourself with proper responses for any Karen's you may come across. You are now at the frontlines my friend, doing your part.
A month ago you'd still get dirty looks and possibly confrontation around here but as of last week now hardly a glance even.
Going maskless is the new punk! I love it, congrats…sometimes I’ll go into stores to walk through without a mask. Not shopping or even browsing just bc I can.
I live in blue ass Maryland and people have been freeing their faces a lot as of recent. I’m not the only one anymore and it’s amazing. I just walk around grinning everywhere.
Avoid the free sanitizer. Most contain toxic cancer chems.
If you MUST sanitize, get your own non toxic stuff.
Yes, some of that 'hand sanitizer' is bad for your skin at best (dermatitis) and carcinogenic at worst. There's a lot of counterfeit shit coming in from China (masks, too) and they throw any old shit in the bottle. Soap and water is safest.
I still remember the video of the man-bun mask nazis denying food to Americans... But those were specific people, not the corporation...
Still I believe it was corporate policy. So I am not going to applaud them for finally stopping their oppression of American Citizens...
Good on yah! The way it's supposed to be! Ultimately, everyone hates these masks, and only false fear & false belief via the 'media' has had anyone acting differently. Deep down we all love faces & smiles, and despise masks.
Here in Greece there's a 300 Euro fine for not wearing a mask "properly" and also for the owner of any shop in which you are found. So mask wearing is de rigeur. But in the villages and smaller towns, a large number of people have the mask tucked under their nose or under their chin. They clearly don't believe that it does anything and they are thoroughly fed up with the things.
My 80+ year old friend with COPD wears a mask that must be 6 months old and falling apart.
