The entire state of Texas has effectively banned abortions.

In Texas, it is now illegal to have an abortion after 6-weeks into the pregnancy.
However, unlike other states that tried to pass and enforce a "fetal heartbeat" law (which their enforcement was then ruled unconstitutional)... Texas has NO intention of enforcing that law.
Instead, Texas made it legal for ANYONE in the United States to sue anyone associated with an abortion performed in this state after 6-weeks of gestation. The person filing the lawsuit doesn't have to be an interested party or anyone even connected to the matter. They can sue the abortion doctor and nurses personally, sue the clinic, sue any doctor that referred the woman to the abortion clinic, sue whoever drove them to the clinic, sue the woman who had the abortion, sue any family member that paid for the abortion, sue any agency that provided funding or support for it, etc... .
The new law allows anyone in the U.S. (or hundreds of people) to all pile on and file multiple lawsuits against anyone involved in the after 6-week abortion. Also, if the woman (or doctor, clinic, etc...) wins the lawsuit or it is thrown out for any reason... they can't recover legal costs.
Basically, if a clinic is found to perform an abortion after 6-weeks, they will be sued out of existence by thousands of individuals filing lawsuits nation wide. If they did it again, they can add a few thousand more lawsuits. + doctors, + nurses, + every staff member that works at the clinic.... everyone involved gets sued.
This was just recently passed, but should effectively shut down every clinic in the state. By the time a woman finds out she is pregnant, it will likely already be too late.
